Description of the front: In the center, a portrait of George Washington (1732-1799), the first president of the United States. The Act of March 3, 1863 is located vertically on the left edge. On the left, a scene with Christopher Columbus and his crew in sight of the lands of America. Seal in brown or red and numbering in red or blue. The frame has small rosettes repeating "UNITED STATES" and the word "ONE" repeated in the corners. A large black rosette with the number “1 ONE” on the right. Many combinations of signatures engraved with the Register of the Treasury and the Treasurer of the United States. Description of the back: Security backdrop made up of multiple rosettes with the value “ONE” vertically on the sides. In the center in a large rose window, a cross with the text "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA". Legal text on the right: “This Note is a Legal Tender…”.
