Printer: Canadian Bank Note Company, Limited (CBNC). No watermark. No security thread. Front and back: Multicolored print predominantly purple. Texts in English and French. Description of the front: in the center, a portrait of Viola Desmond (1914-1965), the face of the Black struggle in Canada for her action against racial segregation in the 1940s. In the background, a map of the north end history of the city of Halifax where lived Viola Desmond. In the upper left corner, the value "10" in white is printed identically in blue on the back. Under the portrait, the holographic strip band of changing colors contains a view of the neo-gothic dome overhanging the Ottawa Parliament Library. At the bottom of the note, the bilingual text of the issuing institution "BANK OF CANADA - BANQUE DU CANADA", the value in letters and the signatures are printed in purple. Only one type of signatures with Carolyn Wilkins, The Deputy Governor and Stephen S. Poloz, The Governor. Description of the back: graphic background consisting of geometric shapes merging together. Above, a changing color eagle feather symbolizes the values of power, truth and freedom. Under the value printed in blue, an excerpt from the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms.
