About VF.18 - 10 francs Flag back Type 1944
France. Supplemental French franc currency. American Impressions for the "Tom Cat" Operation. Date of Issue: 6-6-1944. 10 francs Type 1944 "Flag back". Dimensions: 78 x 67 mm. No date. 80,000,000 issued notes. No watermark, but a security sign symbolized by a stylized "F" for "Forbes" is hidden in the visual of the sticker on the front lower left in a sheet. Printer: Forbes Lithograph Manufacturing Co., Boston. Front and back: multicolored print, mainly green and purple. On the front: black and white frame decorated with abstract shapes and two guilloche rosettes printed in purple on the sides at the bottom of the note. A safety background made up of wavy curved lines is printed in blue-green and mixed with abstract shapes in green. The value in figures is repeated four times in purple in the corners and once in the center in white in a purple rosette. The value in letters “DIX / FRANCS” and the mention “ÉMIS EN / FRANCE” are printed purple in the center. The words "SÉRIE DE 1944" are printed twice in black. The eight-digit banknote number is printed in black in the center. No signatures. On the back: dark blue and white frame decorated with abstract shapes. A safety background composed of curved lines wavy in blue and red. In the center, a large tricolor flag flies in the wind and below, a medallion decorated with leaves in which are inscribed the three currencies of France: "LIBERTY, EQUALITY, FRATERNITY". Specimen of the issued note numbered 00000000 with "SPECIMEN" perforated horizontally in the center of the bill. Replacement note with the letter "X" printed on an issued note.
