Description

Belgian Congo. Central Bank of Belgian Congo and Rwanda-Burundi. 1952-1960 Issues. Banknote identical to Pick # 14D. Dimensions: 130 x 84 mm. Material: paper. Watermark: okapi head. Printer: Waterlow & Sons Ld, London Wall, London. No security thread. The note is dated in black in the center. Front and back printing predominantly gray, pink and light blue. Texts in French. Description of the front: guilloche frame with the value "10" repeated in the upper corners. In the center, the issuing institute "CENTRAL BANK OF BELGIAN CONGO AND RWANDA-BURUNDI" and below the value "TEN FRANCS" and the words "PAYABLES AT SIGHT". On the left, Watutsi dancers in traditional costume perform their choreography in front of a crowd and the huts of a village. Overprint in black in the center (ISSUE + YEAR) or not. On the right, the watermark is decorated with patterns in pink and blue. Bottom left, the “BCB” monogram in gray-blue and on the right, a Congolese star printed in gray-blue in a geometric pattern. The series and banknote number are printed twice in black. The signatures are printed in black. At the bottom, the article of the penal code is printed on a line at the edge of the frame. Several combinations of signatures with The Senior Officer and The Governor. Description of the back: guilloche frame with the value "10" printed in three angles. Bottom right, the Congolese star is printed in a geometric pattern. On the right, a troop of Congolese soldiers standing at attention with shouldered rifles. Texts in Dutch. Black overprint in the center (UITGIFTE + YEAR) or not. The signatures are shown in black on the back. The specimen is known unnumbered and twice overprinted "SPECIMEN" in red diagonally front / back.
