About :#34 - 100 francs Type 1892 Madagascar

Madagascar. French administration. Banque de Madagascar, provisional issue from 1943. Creation date: these banknotes dated from December 1892 to February 1893 come from a stock of 100 francs Type 1892 Blue and pink "not issued" (Ref: # F.A51) from the Bank of France. These overprinted banknotes, some of which perforated "SPECIMEN" diagonally, were issued in Madagascar in 1926. Joint work of Daniel Dupuis and Georges Duval and engraving by A. Leveille and L. Rousseau. Dimensions: 180 x 112 mm. No security thread. Watermarks: on the right, a profile of a helmeted warrior and on the left, a profile of a woman wearing a headband. Printer: Bank of France. Front and back: two-color printing, mainly purple and pink. Description of the front: texts in French. The wording of the issuing institute "BANK OF FRANCE" is crossed out by a red band and overprinted below with the words "BANK OF MADAGASCAR" in red. The numbering, signatures and date of issue are printed in black. On the sides, two allegories sit on the two watermarks. On the left, a helmeted woman (Minerva) symbolizing Wisdom is leaning on a shield and holding in his hand a feather and a branch. On the right, another undressed woman with a basket of fruit on her lap, symbolizes Abundance. In the center of the composition, a seated Mercury writing on a tablet is surrounded by a background decorated with patterns and arabesques. In the upper part, two medallions: on the left, a portrait of a woman symbolizing Industry and on the right, a portrait of a woman symbolizing Agriculture. At the bottom, article 139 of the Penal Code is printed on five lines in a dark blue frame. Only one type of signature is known with Principal Cashier Victor d'Anfreville, Secretary General Jean-Baptiste Billotte and Comptroller General Armand Delmotte. Back description: print predominantly purple and red. Frame composed of intertwined shapes with two caduceus represented in the upper part. On the sides, two medallions with portraits of two young women. In the center, a group of three characters with Fortune on its wheel and sowing wealth around it. Below, a woman symbolizing Agriculture, sits on a sheaf of wheat and holds a small bill in hand. A blacksmith seated on an anvil symbolizes Work. This note was also issued with other surcharges for Guadeloupe, Tunisia and the Bank of West Africa (BAO).
