Bank of West Africa. 1892 (1919) Dakar Provisional Issues. 100 francs Type 1892 (Bank of France) Reserved and overprinted in red "BANQUE DE L'AFRIQUE OCCIDENTALE(BANK OF WEST AFRICA)". Work by Daniel Dupuis and Georges Duval and engraving by Auguste Leveille for the front and Léon Rousseau for the back. Printer: Bank of France, Paris. Dimensions: 180 x 111 mm. Watermark: two faces in profile. Front and back: two-color printing, mainly pink and blue. 250,000 copies issued for the FWA (Daker, 1919), Guadeloupe (1920), Madagascar (1926) and Tunisia (1943). On the front: pink security background composed of arabesques. On the sides, allegories of Wisdom and Agriculture each seated on a monument with the location of the watermark at its base. At the top center, a cartridge containing the issuing institute "BANQUE DE FRANCE" is overprinted in red "BANQUE DE L'AFRIQUE OCCIDENTALE". Two medallions frame the value in letters printed in blue. In the center of the note below the value, a young Mercury engraves a stele. The date, numbering and signatures are printed in black. Three types of signatures with Le Principal Casher, Victor d'Anfreville, The Secretary General, Jean-Baptiste Billotte and The Comptroller General, Armand Delmotte. At the bottom, article 139 of the Penal Code is printed in a blue cartridge. On the back: composition of arabesques with two caduceus and two portraits of women and in the center Fortune which rewards Agriculture (represented by a woman holding a sickle in her right hand) and Industry (represented by a man seated on a anvil). This note is overprinted DAKAR in red on the front. Copies known: Q.165-854, Q.168-106 et W.170-000.
