Description

Switzerland. Swiss National Bank (Schweizerische Nationalbank). Third issue (1918-1952). Banknote dated 01-01-1918 but not issued and kept in reserve. Work by Balzer (collaborator of Orell Füssli). Printer: Art Institute Orell Füssli in Zurich. Dimensions: 118 x 115 mm. No watermark. No security thread. Front and back: print in blue and brown on a red background composed of wavy lines. Front: frame with rosettes and ornaments. The numbering, the alphabet, the labels, the place, the date of issue and the signatures are printed in black. The value "100" is repeated in the corners of the thumbnail. The texts are printed in three languages: French, German and Italian. Law text: "Gesetz vom 6. Okt. 1905 ". In the center above, the Swiss cross in white in a coat of arms. In the middle of the vignette on the right in medallion, a view of the Tell chapel on Lake Lucerne. On the left, a medallion portrait of "William Tell", legendary hero of the founding myths of Switzerland. This portrait draws heavily on the monument to William Tell located in Altdorf and designed by the Swiss sculptor Richard Kissling. Three issue dates and five signature variants with The Cashier, The President of the Bank Council and The Director. Back: frame composed of rosettes and ornaments with the value "100" repeated four times in medallion in the corners. In the center above, the Swiss cross in white in a coat of arms. In the center, in an oval whose frame takes the names of the SNB in ​​three languages, a view of the river and the Jungfrau massif in the Bernese Alps. Known specimen not issued dated 01-01-1918, unnumbered and unsigned with the surcharge "SPECIMEN" in red diagonally on the front and back with cancellations stars.
