Description

Switzerland. Swiss National Bank (Schweizerische Nationalbank). Second issue (1910-1955). Banknote identical to the Pick: # 6 and # 28 but with the different law text (Gesetzgebung über die Schweizerische Nationalbank). First series dated 01-04-1924. Permanently removed from circulation on 01-10-1958. Work of Ferdinand Hodler. Printer: Waterlow & Sons Ltd., London. Dimensions: 181 x 115 mm. No watermark. No security thread. Front and back: print in orange and blue. Front: vignette composed of rosettes and ornaments. The numbering, the alphabet, the labels, the place and date of issue and the signatures are printed in black. The value in figures "100" is repeated three times in the corners of the thumbnail. The texts are printed in three languages: French, German and Italian. On the left below, inset portrait of the wife of the artist "Bertha Hodler" (1868-1958), who also served as a model for her husband for two years, or ... the total duration of their marriage. Twenty-two issue dates and eighteen signature variants with The Cashier, The Chairman of the Board of the Bank and The Director. Back: frame composed of rosettes and ornaments with the value in figures "100" repeated four times in medallion in the corners. In the center, Der Mäher (The Reaper) of the painter Ferdinand Hodler, representing a farmer mowing a field of flowers in the mountains.
