Front printing in blue, red and black. Description of front: Center, a portrait of Clinton DeWitt (1769-1828), American politician, mayor of New York and state governor in the early 19th century. On the left, Christopher Columbus seated in an armchair. Large seal and numbering in red on the right. The Act of March 3, 1863 is located vertically on the right edge. Ornamental frame with the text "US 1000" repeating. A large black rosette with the number "1,000". Combination of signatures engraved with Allison (Register of the Treasury) and Spinner (Treasurer of the United States). Description of the back: Frame and safety background made up of repeating rosettes. In the center, in a large rose window, the text of the law: “This Note is a Legal Tender…” with the letter “M” and the number “1,000” on the sides. The company issuing the banknotes is indicated at the bottom. The back is printed in green called "Greenback (money)". 2 known, very rare. This note has sold $1,440,000 at Stack's Bowers in 2019.
