Description
Bank of Guadeloupe. No date (1942). First issue in 1943. Dimensions: 180 x 120 mm. No watermark. American printer: E.A. Wright, Philadelphia. Front: black and white frame consisting of guilloche patterns with letters "BG" in the left and right frame. Print of a security background in blue "Bank of Guadeloupe" repeated continuously. In a medallion in the center, portrait profile of the leader "Karukera" with the value in letters "MILLE FRANCS" below. Article 139 of the Penal Code is printed in black on a line at the top of the bill. Two variants of signatures with The Director, The Cashier and A Censor. Back: orange print with a security background in pink "Bank of Guadeloupe" repeated continuously. Center wind rose with the value "1000" in orange repeated four times around. Specimen known unsigned, numbered five times 0000 and overprinted four times SPECIMEN in red and oblique on the signatures and one of the numbers. Another specimen on G3 and R3-227 banknotes overprinted with four blue stamps in the front and back corners. A copy is known non-perforated, not overprinted, without signatures and unnumbered. Rare banknote. Copies seen: A1-1, C1-333, C1-334, F.1-541, J.1-68, K.1-101, K.1-103, K.1-106, D2-623, P2-381, R2-138, T2-734, U.2-23, X2-411, R3-010, R3-227 (specimen). The second variant of signatures is very rare! Banknote removed from circulation in February 1959.
