Italy. Banca d'Italia. 1926-1932 Issues. Banknote identical to Pick # 46 but with the "FASCIO" seal in the center on the back. Work by Rinaldo Barbetti and engraving by E. Ballarini. Dimensions: 240 x 148 mm. Watermark: profile head. Printers: Officina della Banca d'Italia di Roma. No security thread. Material: paper. Polychrome front and back printing, predominantly brown, ocher and red. Description of the front: ocher safety background composed of repeating patterns. Animated frame of sketches with cherubs, eagles and winged allegories. Crowned shield. Bottom center, a red seal with Italia's profile head. Texts in Italian. The numbering and signatures are printed in black. Three combinations of signatures with The Governor and The Cashier. Back description: red safety background composed of repeating patterns and a woman's head in profile in a medallion. Many allegories: a standing woman symbolizing Industry holds a trident and a wheel. In the center, a man symbolizing Credit is lying with a sheep and an owl by his side. A seated woman symbolizing Agriculture is holding a sheaf of wheat. Many cherubs in various positions roam the entire frame. On the right in an oval medallion, the profile of Italia Turrita, the allegorical female figure personifying Italy. In the center at the bottom, a red "FASCIO" seal. No specimen known for the Type.
