Italy. Banca d'Italia. 1990-1997 Issues. Work by Giovanni Pino and engraving by F. Zannotti. Dimensions: 112 x 61 mm. Watermark: portrait of Maria Montessori and electrotype BI monogram. Printer: Officina della Banca d'Italia. Intaglio print. Security thread. Material: paper. Full color printing on front and back, mainly purple, green, blue and orange. Description on the front: safety background made up of puzzle piece shapes and a child's silhouette. On the right, the portrait of the Italian doctor and pedagogue Maria Montessori (1870-1952). The banknote number is repeated twice in black at the bottom. In the center in purple, the seal of the four Maritime Republics (Amalfi, Genoa, Pisa and Venice). On the left, the location of the watermark with the value "1000" above and below, the signatures printed in purple. Three combinations of signatures with The Governor and The Cashier. Back description: security background made up of puzzle pieces with children student in the foreground. On the right, the location of the watermark with the value "1000" above and the text of the penal code printed purple below. The decree date is printed vertically on the right side of the watermark. No specimen known for the Type. Replacement note with X series.
