Printers: National Bank Note Company and American Bank Note Company, New York. Front printing in green and black. Description of the front: Portrait of Alexander Hamilton (1755-1804), 1st Secretary of the Treasury of the United States. Seal and numbering in red. The Act of July 11, 1862 is located above the word "UNITED". The issuing banknote company is printed vertically on the left border. Signature combinations: Chittenden (Register of the Treasury) and Spinner (Treasurer of the United States). Description of the back: rosette with the value “2” in the corners and in the center in a large rosette: “This Note is a Legal tender…”. The back is printed in green called "Greenback (money)".
