Description
Switzerland. Swiss National Bank(Schweizerische Nationalbank). Second issue (1910-1955). Banknote issued on 31-07-1914 but dated 1911 for the first series. Removed from circulation on 31-12-1935. Work by Balzer (collaborator of Orell Füssli). Printer: Art Institute Orell Füssli in Zurich. Dimensions: 163 x 95 mm. No watermark. No security thread. Front and back: print in brown, light blue, and purple. Front: numbering, alphabet, labels, place and date of issue and signatures are printed in black. The value "20" is repeated twice to the right in medallions. In the center above, the Swiss cross. The texts are printed in three languages: French, German and Italian. Law text: "Gesetz vom 6. Okt. 1905 ". On the left, portrait of "Vreneli" in a medallion, a profile taken from the 20 francs gold coin "Goldvreneli", the most famous Swiss coin issued between 1897 and 1949. Seven variants of signatures with The Cashier, The President of the Council of the Bank and The Director. Back: frame composed of rosettes and ornaments with the value "20" roughly in the center and repeated four times in medallion in the corners. Known specimen with "SPECIMEN" overprint in red and diagonally on the front and back. 95862 copies have not been returned. Other Reference: TBB (The Banknote Book): B307.
