Description

Switzerland. Swiss National Bank(Schweizerische Nationalbank). Third issue (1918-1952). Banknote dated 16-05-1923 but not issued and kept in reserve. From an image of Pietro Chiesa. Printer: Art Institute Orell Füssli in Zurich. Dimensions: 141 x 88 mm. No watermark. No security thread. Front and back: print in blue-gray and light orange. Front: frame with rosettes and ornaments. The numbering, the alphabet, the labels, the place and date of issue and the signatures are printed in black. The value "20" is repeated in the corners of the thumbnail. In the center at the top, the Swiss cross in white. The texts are printed in three languages: French, German and Italian. Law text: "Gesetzgebung über die Schweizerische Nationalbank". On the left, inset portrait of a "Fribourgeoise", resident of the city of Friburg. Three types of signatures on one of the specimens with The Cashier K.Bornhauser, The Chairman of the Board Paul Usteri Bank and The Director Gottlieb Bachmann. Back: frame composed of rosettes and ornaments with the value "20" roughly in the center and repeated four times in medallion in the angles. In the center at the top, the Swiss cross in white. Known specimen not issued, unnumbered and unsigned with "SPECIMEN" overprint in red diagonally on the front and back with sometimes cancellation perforations. Other known unnumbered specimen with signature variant # 10 and overprinted "SPECIMEN" in red and diagonally on the front and back. Other Reference: TBB (The Banknote Book): B322.
