Canada. Dominion of Canada. 1900-1917 issues. 25 Cents Type 1900 "Shinplaster". Date: January 2nd, 1900. Printer: American Bank Note Company, Ottawa (ABNC). Dimensions: 114 x 69 mm. Watermark: unknown. No security thread. The 25 Cents Type 1900 has no serial number or letter series. Front: print in black and yellow. Frame composed of rosettes with the value "25" printed in three angles. On the right, an allegory of seated Britannia holding a shield and a trident with a sailboat in the background. "The Dominion of Canada" is printed in black over the value "25" in huge numbers in a black rosette. Below, the value "TWENTY FIVE CENTS" is printed horizontally in black. One printed signature: J.M. Courtney, T.C. Boville or J.C. Saunders (Deputy Minister of Finance). Back: green monochrome print. The background is composed of characteristic shapes of the ABNC style. The value "CENTS 25 CENTS" is printed twice on the sides in rosettes. In the center, a large rosette with the value "25" in the four cardinal corners. For the first time, "Dominion of Canada" is missing on the back!
