Algeria. Allied Occupation. Bank of Algeria. This note is identical to the 5 francs Type 1924 but with a reduced format. Issuing period: 1944 to 1945. Creation date: 08-02-1944 and 02-10-1944. Work by Clément Serveau, engraving by Emile Deloche for the front and engraving by Rita Dreyfus for the back. Dimensions: 98 x 60 mm. Without watermark. Front and back: polychrome print with predominantly orange. Description of the front: orange security background composed of arabesques in rehearsal. The wording of the issuing institute "BANQUE DE L'ALGÉRIE", the value "CINQ FRANCS", the date of issue and the signatures are printed in blue on the left. Only the alphabet and number are printed in black. The note does not have a control number! On the right, in a medallion, a front portrait of a young Muslim girl. Two variants of signatures are known: the first with The Inspector General and The Principal Cashier and the second with The Secretary General and The Principal Cashier. Description of the back: a veiled Algerian woman carries a basket of fruit and in the background, a view of the port of Algiers with the Admiralty buildings. The specimen is known with a red "SPECIMEN" overprint on the front and back, dated "08-02-1944", numbered "0.0000 - 000" and signed Bérino / Sebald.
