Front printing in green and black. Description of the front: Profile portrait of Alexander Hamilton (1755-1804), 1st Secretary of the Treasury of the United States. The Act of February 25, 1862 or March 10, 1863 is located above the value "50" in the black rose window on the left. Seal and numbering in red. The frame has the number "50" repeated continuously. The middle of the top border contains the company issuing the banknote. Signature combinations: Chittenden (Register of the Treasury) and Spinner (Treasurer of the United States). Description of the back: security background made up of repeating patterns with the phrase “UNITED STATES TREASURY NOTE”. The frame has the number "50" repeated continuously as on the front. In the center, the text “This Note is a Legal Tender…”. There are two versions of the law! Text of the first obligation: "... and is exchangeable for U.S. Six percent TWENTY YEARS BONDS, redeemable ...". Text of the second obligation: “… and is receivable in payment of all LOANS…”. The back is printed in green called "Greenback (money)". Very rare note.
