Description
French army occupation issues for "Suez Expedition" with Black overprint "FORCES FRANÇAISES EN MÉDITERRANÉE ORIENTALE" along with two black rectangles. Issue of November 1956. Without signature. Front: mercury at left center, value top left and right, reverse blue and multicolored, maiden at center. Watermark with helmeted head profile. Very rare to find in UNC grade. Size: 116 x 75 mm. Be careful with counterfeit notes.

(1) The specimen is very rare: one copy is known in UNC grade unperforated "SPECIMEN". A second note is known in UNC grade, perforated SPECIMEN vertically (note seen on page 578 of the 2007 edition of Le Fayette). The third copy in XF grade was offered for € 2,900 by the Comptoir des Monnaies (Numiscorner) in June 2016.
