Italy. Bank of Italy. 1896-1926 Issues. Work by Rinaldo Barbetti and engraving by E. Ballarini. Dimensions: 176 x 109 mm. Watermark: Neptune's head in profile. Printer: Officina Banca d'Italia di Roma. No security thread. Material: paper. Front and back printing in tri-color predominantly blue, green and red. Description of the front: green safety background composed of repeating patterns. On the left, a large decorated letter "L" and an allegory of the arts seated with children in their arms. A bird perched on the right. In the center, a seal in red with the head in profile of Italia. Texts in Italian. The numbering and signatures are printed in black. Five combinations of signatures with The Managing Director and The Cashier. Description of the back: on the right, an allegory of the arts standing near a smoke-urn. Downstairs cherubs with urns. On the left, an oval placed on a pedestal contains the watermark. In the center, a seal with the mention DECRETO / MINISTERIALE / DEL 30 LUGLIO / 1896. No specimen known for the Type.
