Description

Djibouti. French territory of the Afars and Issas. 1969-1975 Issues. Work by Lorain and engraving by Armanelli for the front and G. Regnier for the back. Undated. Dimensions: 142 x 93 mm. No security thread. Watermark: woman's head in profile wearing a Phrygian cap. Printer: Bank of France. Multicolored front and back printing, predominantly gray, blue and brown. Description of the front: bottom composed of an arcade giving on a view of the harbor of Djibouti with several ships including a traditional dhow in the foreground. Texts in French and Arabic. The issuing institute "PUBLIC TREASURE - FRENCH TERRITORY OF AFARS AND ISSAS" is printed in black in the center at the top of the drawing. The numbering is printed in black. The watermark is shown in an octagon decorated with patterns on the right. Below, three doves take flight. The numerical value is printed in western characters in the upper corners and in Arabic characters in the lower corners. The banknote is not signed. Description of the back: background composed of geometric patterns and arabesques in rehearsal. Texts in French and Arabic. In the center, an antelope stands on its hind legs in an octagon. The value "FIVE HUNDRED FRANCS" is printed in dark blue at the bottom left. The wording of the issuing institute "FRENCH TERRITORY OF AFARS AND ISSAS" is again indicated in the center of the frame at the top of the drawing. On the right, The value "500" and the article of the penal code are printed in blue in a medallion. The specimen is known undated, not overprinted, unperforated and numbered "O.00 - 000".
