Description

Switzerland. Swiss National Bank (Schweizerische Nationalbank). Second issue (1910-1955). Banknote identical to Pick: # 7 but with different law text (Gesetz vom 7. April 1921). Note dated 01-01-1923. Permanently removed from circulation on 01-10-1958. Work of Eugene Burnand. Printer: Waterlow & Sons Ltd., London. Dimensions: 200 x 125 mm. No watermark. No security thread. Front and back: print in red, brown and orange. Front: vignette composed of rosettes and ornaments. The numbering, the alphabet, the labels, the place and date of issue and the signatures are printed in black. The value "500" is repeated three times in the corners of the thumbnail. The texts are printed in three languages: French, German and Italian. On the left at the bottom, a medallion portrait of a young "Appenzell" living in the Swiss canton of Appenzell. One date of issue and three variants of signatures with The Cashier, The Chairman of the Board of the Bank and The Director. Back: frame composed of rosettes and ornaments with the value "500" repeated four times in medallion in the corners. In the center, a composition of the painter Eugene Burnand representing the interior of a habitat where three sitting embroiderers work on their work near a window.
