Description

Bank of Guadeloupe. No date (1927). First issue in 1934. Work of Danger for the front and Georges Duval for the back. Dimensions: 220 x 150 mm. Multicolored printing on front and back. Watermark with portrait of Colbert in profile. Front: the vignette is composed of an ornamental frame with on the left, a bust of a woman holding "the hand of Justice", a scepter symbol of the judicial authority. In the background a commercial boat and right, the watermark in a large oval ornamental frame. Numbering, alphabet and signatures are printed in black. The values, wording and article 139 of the Penal Code are printed in red. Three variants of signatures with The Director, The Cashier and A Censor. Back: monochrome print in red. The vignette is composed of lush vegetation that frames a rowing boat symbolizing the Republic and decorated with fruits and flowers. In the background, we guess the bay of Saint-Pierre. Proof of the front without the texts. Very rare banknote, examples encountered: Q.1, U.1-183, T.3-727, E.4-065, U.4-252, C.5-782, J.5-892, U.6-702, Q.9-913, Q.7 -748, T.7, X.8-976, H.9-660, B.45. Private banknote of legal tender in September 1958.
