Description of the front: security background in dark green and yellow gradient and with repeating patterns. Guilloche frame with the value "500" printed in a rosette and in the corners. At the top, the words "BANK OF THE REPUBLIC OF MALI" are printed in dark green on a frieze. On the left, the watermark. The banknote number and issue date are printed in black. The value in letters and the signatures are printed in dark green in the center and above a rosette in dark green. Below, the slaughterhouse building in Bamako. Below, the article of the penal code is printed on a line in a frieze. On the right, an official portrait of President Modibo Keita. A single combination of signatures with the Minister of State, Jean-Marie Koné, The Minister of Finance, Attaher Maïga and The Governor of the Bank, Alpha Oumar Cissé.
