Italy. Banca d'Italia. 1943-1947 Issues. Banknote identical to Pick # 40 but with the "FASCIO" seal and the recomposed back. Work by Rinaldo Barbetti and engraving by E. Ballarini. Dimensions: 210 x 130 mm. Watermark: profile head. Printer: Officina Carte-Valori I.P.S. No security thread. Material: paper. Front and back printing in tri-color, mainly purple, pink and red. Front description: pink security background composed of repeating patterns. Animated frame of sketches with cherubs and lions. On the left side, a woman standing and symbolizing the Law holds a book in her hand. On the right side, another woman symbolizing Justice holds a sword in hand. In the center, a seal in red with the head in profile of Italia. Texts in Italian. The numbering and signatures are printed in black. Two signatures with The Governor Vincenzo Azzolini and The Cashier Urbini. Description of the back: security background composed of arabesques in rehearsal. Cherubs fly with baskets filled with bunches of grapes. Woman standing left holding a bunch of grapes in front of a smoking urn. On the right, several cherubs roll wine barrels and above in an oval medallion, the profile of Italia Turrita, the allegorical female figure personifying Italy. In the center at the bottom, a red "FASCIO" seal. No specimen known for Type.
