No security thread. 500,000 issued notes. Printer: Banco de España. Intro: 00.07.1898. Front and back printing in black, yellow and blue. Texts in Spanish. Description of the front: small guilloche frame with the value "500" in the corners. From top to bottom: the black numbering repeated twice, the issuing institute "EL BANCO DE ESPAÑA", the words "Pagará al portador (will pay to the bearer)", the watermark, the value in letters "QUINIENTAS PESETAS", then the place and date of issue. Three signatures in black. A single combination of signatures with El Gobernador (The Governor), El Interventor (The Comptroller) and El Cajero (The Cashier). On the left, a portrait of the Spanish painter and engraver Francisco José de Goya y Lucientes, known as Francisco de Goya (1746-1828). On the right, an allegory of Industry represented by a seated woman dressed in a large drape and holding a vase. In the foreground, a child carries a crate. In the distance, a factory and its smoking chimney. Counterfoil on the left with “BANCO DE ESPAÑA” in vertical. Description of the back: frame and background composed of decorative patterns in dark blue with the watermark in the center. On the sides, a woman and a man both seated symbolize Industry. No specimen known or encountered for the Type.
