Description

Bank of Reunion. No date (1946). First issue in 1964. Banknote identical to Pick #50 except the name of the issuer that changes: "Issuing Institute of Overseas Territories". Work of Robert Poughéon. Dimensions: 201 x 109 mm. Watermark with a woman's head wearing a phrygian cap. Front and back: multicolored printing. Front: The word "DEPARTEMENT DE LA REUNION" repeated twice in the margin, "REPUBLIQUE FRANCAISE" and the value "5000" are printed in dark brown. Numbering and signatures are printed in black. Vigorous bust of Victor Schoelcher, journalist and French politician posing in front of a landscape of sea and mountain. In his hand, the parchment of the abolition of slavery in the French colonies. Two signatures: The Chief Executive Officer: A. Postel-Vinay and the Chairman of the Supervisory Board: P. Calvet. Back: Group of characters busy picking fruit. Below, article 139 of the Penal Code is printed in a gray cartridge. Specimen of the issued note signed and numbered O.00 - 000 with "SPECIMEN" perforated vertically. In the upper left corner, a "SPECIMEN" overprinted and a specimen number in black. Number range of issued notes: 001 to 1.045.000. Banknotes seen: T.4-156, P.9-572, E.11-823, Y.25-495.
