Italy. Banca d'Italia. 1947-1961 Issues. Work by Giovanni Capranesi. Dimensions: 222 x 125 mm. Watermark: on the left, head of Italia and on the right, head of Christopher Columbus. Printer: Officina della Banca d'Italia. No security thread. Material: paper. Polychrome front and back printing, predominantly brown, purple, green and red. Description of the front: ornamental frame of oval composition with the number "5000" in the center. Above, a seal in red with the head in profile of Italy. On the sides, the two watermarks framed by leaves. In the center at the bottom, two elongated allegories, each holding a stick, are supported on the coats of arms of Venice and Genoa. The numbering and signatures are printed in black. Two signatures with The Governor Luigi Einaudi and The Cashier Urbini. Description of the back: security frame and background composed of patterns and vegetation with the value "5000" in the corners. In the top center, a seal containing the Bank of Italy "BI" monogram. Below, a profile of a woman in a large medallion and the text of the penal code. No specimen known for the Type.
