Algeria. Bank of Algeria. 1956-1958 Issues. Work by William Fel and engraving by Marliat for the front and Broutin for the back. Dimensions: 185 x 92 mm. Watermark: Profile of a Moorish woman in a medallion on the left. Front and back: Polychrome printing predominantly yellow and gray. Description of the front: A floral frame with a background of stylized flowers in repetition. The wording of the issuing institute changes and becomes “BANQUE DE L'ALGÉRIE”. The value "10NF", the numbering, the signatures and the date of issue are printed in black. On the right, the profile head of the goddess of magic, Isis. Two variants of signatures are known with The Secretary General, The Governor and The General Cashier. Description of the back: A floral frame with a background of stylized repeating flowers. The texts in Arabic have been modified. On the left, a plowing scene from an ancient mosaic kept at the Cherchell Public Museum. At the bottom of the frame, article 139 of the Penal Code translated into Arabic is printed in blue on a line. The specimen is known to be perforated "SPECIMEN" vertically. A second specimen is known overprinted "SPECIMEN" in black diagonally.
