Algeria. French administration. Bank of Algeria. Date of creation: 04-06-1948. Issue date: 15-04-1949. Work of Khamassi. Dimensions: 109 x 68 mm. Without watermark. Front and back: polychrome print predominantly yellow and green. Description of the front: a frame and background composed of ornaments and arabesques. The wording of the issuing institute "BANQUE DE L'ALGÉRIE", the value "VINGT FRANCS", the numbering, the signatures and the date of issue are printed in black. In the center, the value "20" in white in a green medallion. Below, article 139 of the Penal Code printed on three lines. Only one type of signature is known with Couquet, The General Cashier and Delahaye, The General Secretary. Description of the back: we find the elements of the front, the values in numbers and in letters and "BANK OF ALGERIA" translated into Arabic. The specimen is known as overprinted "SPECIMEN" in red diagonally on the front and back. The note is watermarked, signed Couquet / Delahaye, dated "0-0-0000" and numbered "O.000 - 000". A second specimen identical to the previous one is known, but with the overprinted "SPECIMEN" in vertical on the left.
