Material: Paper. Solid security thread. Printer: Bank of England Works. Front and back: polychrome printing predominantly blue. Description of the front: Portrait of Queen Elizabeth II at right. Guilloche patterns. Series and numbering printed in black. Texts in English: "I promise to pay the Bearer on Demand the sum of Five Pounds" in text at centre. Signature: J. Q. Hollom, J. S. Fforde or J. B. Page (Chief Cashier). Description of the back: Seated Britannia with shield and laurel leaf at centre. Guilloche patterns and rosettes. Replacement notes with prefix M.
