Watermark: King Moshoeshoe I, electrotype 20 capped with Basotho hat and cornerstones. Basotho hat as registration device. Material: Paper. Windowed security thread with printed CBL. Printer: Thomas De La Rue (TDLR), London. Multicolored front and back printing, predominantly blue. Description of the front: Background made up of graphic shapes with the value in the angles. Portraits of Kings Letsie III, Moshoeshoe I and Moshoeshoe II. Prefix and ascending numbering in red and black. Texts in English. Two variants of signatures with the governor: Senaoana or Matlanyane. Description of the back: Texts in Sotho. Basotho huts with a couple in the doorway on back, but they disappear on the 2013 bannote. Replacement notes with ZZ prefix.
