New Caledonia. Bank of Indo-China. 1900-1916 Issues. 20 francs Type II, 1888 transitory. Work by A. Bramtot and G. Duval and engraving by Charles Wullschleger. Banknote with the three decrees of January 21, 1875, February 20, 1888 and May 16, 1900. Issue date: Nouméa, March 3, 1902. Dimensions: 180 x 93 mm. No security thread. Watermark: Helmeted woman's head. Material: Paper. Printer: Banque of France. Two-color printing on both sides, predominantly blue and red. Description of the front: Background made up of small repeating geometric patterns. All texts are printed in red and in French. Numbering and series in black. On the left, a decorated frame has two values "20" and the watermark. Below, the god Neptune holding his trident is seated on two sea serpents. On the right, the decrees, the wording of the issuing institute in capital letters "BANQUE DE L'INDO-CHINE", the place and the date issue, the value in letters "TWENTY FRANCS" and the words "PAYABLES EN ESPECES AU PORTEUR (PAYABLE IN CASH TO THE BEARER)". A combination of signatures with the handwritten signature of the Branch Cashier and the printed signatures in red of the Director, Stanislas Simon and an Administrator, Baron Hely d'Oissel. Description of the back: Monochrome blue print of a design consisting of two Chinese celestial dragons surrounding two medallions. In the center, article 139 of the French penal code is printed twice in blue and on five lines in two rectangles. Below, a rectangle with the text "BANQUE DE L'INDO-CHINE" printed in repetition. On the sides, two other rectangles with the value "20 FRANCS". Artist signatures at the bottom of the note. Very rare. Series: X.6.
