Suriname. Bank of Suriname (De Surinaamsche Bank). 1913 Issues. Date: August 1, 1915 and November 1, 1919. Dimensions: 220 x 115 mm. Watermark: Surinaamsche Bank. Material: Paper. No security thread. Printer: Johan Enschedé en Zonen (JEZ), Haarlem. Two-tone front printing in dark purple on an blue green background. Uniface banknote. Description of the front: Frame composed of arabesques and volutes winding around the border. Coat of arms of Suriname in the center composed of two Indians surrounding a medallion containing a sailboat. Below in a banner, the country's national currency in Latin: Justitia Pietas Fides (Justice, Piety, Fidelity). The place (Paramaribo) and the date are printed in the center. At the bottom of the note, a scene symbolizing the arrival of the first Europeans in Suriname with a scene of welcome and offerings. In the background, goods unloaded on the beach and a sailboat anchored in a bay. Texts in Dutch. Value "10" in the corners. A combination of signatures in black with the Directeur and the Directeur-President. Very rare.
