On April 14, 1990, the Central Bank of Algeria changed its name and was renamed Bank of Algeria. A new series of banknotes is therefore put into circulation for the occasion. This series was to include the 5 banknotes of 1000, 500, 200, 100 and 50 dinars. But ultimately the 50 dinars will never be put into production. All 1992 banknotes have new security features compared to the previous 1977-1983 Issue, with a windowed security thread with demetalized Arabic text.
