News by - on

Between January 9 and 13, 2020, Heritage Auctions will offer a new auction entitled: "FUN World Paper Money Signature Auction - Orlando # 4021". In this sale, we spotted a very rare 5,000 francs Guadeloupe type 1955 (Ref. Pick: # 40 or Kolsky: # K138). The bill is graded PMG 30 Very Fine and is estimated between $ 3,000.00 and $ 5,000.00. Only 10 banknotes are graded in the PMG Population Report:

  • 1 copy in VF35,
  • 6 copies in VF30 (including the copy for sale),
  • 1 copy in VF25,
  • 2 copies in VF20.

This note is very difficult to find especially in beautiful grade: only 4,109 copies still remained in circulation in December 1973! The copies that we know include the following numbers: F2-555, K5-389, Z.5-087, B.8-092, L.9-544, K22-331, K22-332, K22-339.

The Numizon opinion: this 5,000 franc note from the Caisse Centrale de la France d'Outre-Mer is essential for any collector specializing in banknotes of French colonies. For some of you, this is finally the opportunity to enter this magnificent note in your binders!
